Why are headlines important?

The headline is useful for the understanding of the article. It includes a teaser and a teller. The teaser's role is to hook the reader into the story with a short glance at the overarching topic. It may be humorous or surprising depending on the piece. The teller serves a more informative role. It usually explains or extends the idea brought upon by the teaser in order to establish a stronger informational foundation onto the reader. This overall gives stronger context and desire to read the rest of the article.
